Doctor Foster series two is ‘coming soon’

‘Doctor Foster’ is to return to television screens "soon."
Suranne Jones, 38, starred as Gemma Foster in the popular BBC programme back in 2015 and, two years later, the show – penned by Mike Bartlett – is set to make a come back for a second series after the actress agreed to reprise her role as the doctor.
The brunette beauty won over the hearts of the nation in series one when her alter ego discovered her husband Simon (Bertie Carvel) had been having an affair with a beautiful blonde named Kate Parks (Jodie Comer) for two years behind her back.
Series two, which was filmed over the course of 2016 – not long after the actress gave birth to her son, is set to take place two years after the first instalment, which saw Simon leave Gemma for Kate, have a baby with her and start a new life elsewhere.
Suranne was initially opposed to the idea of another series of ‘Doctor Foster’ following its success last year but swiftly changed her mind.
She said in a statement at the time: "I am thrilled to announce we will be all reunited to tell Gemma’s next chapter, and I can’t wait for the audience who invested in these characters to find out the explosive twists and turns Mike has in store."
And rightly so, as the actress scooped a number of awards over the past year for her role as the broken GP in the popular drama.
Suranne initially thought the programme would struggle to pull in viewers because dramas based on affairs aren’t as popular, but she was stunned by the response it got.
