DJ Qualls is a huge EastEnders fan

DJ Qualls is a huge ‘EastEnders’ fan and never misses an episode.

The US star revealed his love for the British soap as he spotted Shrimpy actor Ben Champniss in the background of ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2’.

He excitedly tweeted: "Hold the phone! Is that Shrimpy from EastEnders in the background?!? Mind blown.

"This is the Harry Potter/EastEnders crossover I’ve been waiting for.

"Sure, I’d rather it have been Pat Butcher, but still. #harrypotter #EastEnders (sic)"

Many of his followers were delighted to find out he’s a fan of the BBC show, and it didn’t take long for Ben himself to respond to the post.

He replied: "Hold the phone! Kyle from Road Trip knows who Shrimpy from Eastenders is?!? Mind blown! @TheOnlyDJQualls (sic)"

The 42-year-old actor – who has also appeared in the likes of ‘CSI: Crime Scene Investigation’, ‘Breaking Bad’ and ‘Supernatural’ – seemed starstruck by the message, and revealed he’s been tuning in since the 1990s when Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) and Tiffany Mitchell (Martine McCutcheon) were both in Albert Square.

He told Ben: "I am freaking out! Been watching

@bbceastenders since the Tiffany and Bianca days.

"We are months behind here (Melanie died five episodes ago). I never miss an episode.

"Thanks for the Tweet, Ben! I’m a huge fan and this made my day! Give my love to the square. #EastEnders #fanboy (sic)"

While Qualls still has some catching up to do, fans in the UK are looking forward to having ‘EastEnders’ back on the air after a long break due to filming being halted amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Last week, the soap’s official Twitter account announced: "The moment we’ve all been waiting for…#EastEnders will be back on your screens on Monday 7th September. It’s time to set your alarm [clock emoji] and wait for the drama to begin! (sic)"
