Disney confirms Mulan remake

Disney has confirmed a live-action version of ‘Mulan’ will be released in 2018.
The original 1998 movie – which starred Ming-Na Wen as titular character Fa Mulan and Eddie Murphy as small dragon Mushu – is to get a remake which will be a "more nuanced and elaborate" take on the story.
The film is being fast-tracked to hit cinemas on November 2, 2018 and Disney are on the lookout for a Chinese actress to play the main character.
The studio bought the rights to the movie in 2015 and Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver are on board to pen the script for the forthcoming film.
‘Mulan’ told the story of the daughter of an old warrior who disguises herself as a man to take her dad’s place in the army and fight at war alongside her dragon pal and protector Mushu.
This comes after Disney confirmed last week that Jon Favreau is to direct a remake of 1994 classic movie ‘The Lion King’.
The filmmaker – who helmed this year’s ‘The Jungle Book’ – admitted he is "excited" about the live-action project.
In a tweet complete with emojis of a lion and a crown, he wrote: "Excited for my next project".
Disney admitted the reimagining of ‘The Lion King’ will build on the success of similar movies, ‘Maleficent’, ‘Cinderella’, and the upcoming ‘Beauty and the Beast’."
