Deryck Whibley sent threats by Avril Lavigne’s stalker

Deryck Whibley received death threats from Avril Lavigne’s stalker.
The Sum 41 frontman – who was married to the 31-year-old ‘Complicated’ hitmaker from 2006 to 2010 – has revealed he was subjected to serious abuse during his four-year marriage to the singer when a crazed fan from the UK threatened to kill him simply because he was married to the singer.
The 36-year-old rocker said: "My ex-wife [Avril] had a lot of stalkers. And being married to her, they sort of wanted to come after me. There was this one guy from the UK who started sending death threats."
The ‘War’ hitmaker explained that the stalker was very careful at hiding evidence and went as far as to send items with no trace of his fingerprints, however, luckily for Deryck police were able to catch him.
Deryck told Vice: "He was really weird because the stuff he sent had no fingerprints on it and it was at a level that was a little bit more sophisticated.
"It turned out to be way more serious and he wanted to kill me for some reason. Thankfully the FBI found him over here."
Meanwhile, the ‘In Too Deep’ musician recently spoke candidly of how in 2011 – a year after his divorce from Avril – he went through a really dark period with his alcohol addiction and considered ending his career in the rock band.
Asked if he ever felt like the band was over during his darkest moments, he recently told BANG Showbiz: "Yeah I did, I mean possibly. I said it was possibly over. I didn’t know if I wanted to do it anymore. When we got off the tour for ‘Screaming Bloody Murder’ in 2011, the last record, I didn’t know if I was ever going to do it again. We toured that record for three years straight and we were so burnt out. It just felt like what else are we going to do? It felt like it was over."
