Dermot O’Leary’s fun Factor

Dermot O’Leary has brought the "fun" back to ‘The X Factor’.
The 43-year-old presenter – who is returning to the show after he was replaced by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack in 2015 – says the popular ITV programme has adopted a back-to-basics approach this year and will have a feel-good vibe.
He explained: "I think the overriding feeling for me this year is that it’ll be very warm and very fun. Coming back, I think that’s the one thing I wanted. I think, overall, people think we should try and get back to our basics.
"This show is a celebration of great British eccentrics and then we get to the end, we have eight great voices and three or four great characters. And then the public decide. It’s that simple."
Dermot also thinks that this year’s re-jigged judging line-up – which consists of Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Sharon Osbourne and Nicole Scherzinger – will make for engrossing viewing.
Dermot told ‘This Morning’ on Tuesday (26.07.16): "Sharon being back adds a little oomph to Louis and he stands up to Simon a little bit more. Nicole is brilliant because she is so beautiful and intelligent and really funny."
On the flip side, Dermot suggested he is not looking forward to having to dance in front of a national TV audience when the live shows restart.
Recalling the first time he was asked to dance on screen, Dermot said: "There was one moment when the doors are about to open, which is always the most exciting bit, and out of nowhere the dancers appear. I just went, ‘Alright? What are you dong here?’ ‘We’re dong a dance.’
"But no-one had told me, and then people go on Twitter saying it’s rubbish. But I was like, ‘Yeah, of course it’s rubbish, I didn’t even know we’re doing it.’ "
Asked if he’s been working on his dancing moves ahead of the live shows, Dermot said: "Not yet. I’ll speak to my choreographer. We’ll work something out. I think we’ve got to do a few, he says with his tongue firmly in his cheek."
