Denise Welch issues Covid-19 warning

Denise Welch has issued a plea to stop prioritising Covid-19 over other health issues.

While the 62-year-old TV presenter acknowledges how series the coronavirus pandemic is, she warned that other illnesses have not gone away and said they need to be treated, after a friend’s child died from cancer.

Denise tweeted: "Someone I know has just lost her 14 yr old daughter to cancer. Can we please remember, that people have been dying awful, horrible cruel deaths before coronavirus, during coronavirus & will continue to suffer and die. Please can we stop only prioritising Covid19."

After receiving many similar stories from her followers, Denise wrote: "I can’t answer each one but my thoughts are with everyone who has been dealing with non virus related serious illness during this time."

And the star – who has been open about her own struggles with depression – also warned that it is vital to look after the mental health of children during the Covid-19 pandemic.

She tweeted: "We must work on the mental health of our children and get them back to school without fear. These are memories that shape their lives and it’s a sh*t show. They shouldn’t be scared of touching another child. Make it stop!!"

Meanwhile, Denise recently admitted she is worried that many people will suffer with mental health issues due to the global health crisis, after her ‘Loose Women’ co-star Carol McGiffin revealed she is struggling.

She said: "McGiff did get in touch with me the other day and said that. So many people have anxiety and have no idea how to control it."
