Demonic Nun to get Conjuring spin-off

The demonic nun from ‘The Conjuring’ films is set to get her own spin-off movie.
Following the phenomenal success of James Wan’s supernatural horror films starring Patrick Wilson as paranormal investigator Ed Wilson, his possessed adversary, played by Bonnie Aarons, is set to get her own film titled ‘The Nun’.
It will come as no surprise that New Line studios will want to build on the success of the ‘The Conjuring’ franchise, as the first film took $318 million at the box office, and the sequel has already amassed $101 million since its release earlier this month.
‘The Conjuring 2’ also beat the hotly anticipated ‘Warcraft’ film to the top spot on its release in America.
The film is currently being written by David Leslie Johnson and James and Peter Safran are on board to co-produce.
Meanwhile, it’s not known whether Bonnie Aarons will sign on for the spin-off movie.
But Wan’s success with boosting the horror movie genre through ‘The Conjuring’ titles could bode well for ‘The Nun’ and the director is determined to make each of his subsequent films "better".
The 39-year-old director said: "I always try to better myself with every movie I make. I don’t take anything sitting back and so I try to learn from every film I make and carry that onto the next movie because I think it’s important as a filmmaker to keep growing with each film and I think I am growing with each movie."
However, it hasn’t always been plain sailing for James, as the 2014 ‘Annabelle’ spinoff was universally trashed by critics, but it still managed a more than respectable $256 million at the box office.
And despite the critical panning New Line are planning a sequel due for release in 2017.
