Dax Shepard wants to remake Dukes of Hazzard

Dax Shepard wants to remake ‘Dukes of Hazzard’.
The 42-year-old actor-and-filmmaker recently took the helm of action comedy ‘CHiPs’ – which is based on 1970s TV show of the same name – but admitted he would be excited about working on anything that combined his loves of comedy and motor vehicles.
He said: "I’m always looking for anything that will fuse motorsports with comedy. So I would have relaunched ‘Dukes of Hazzard’, I would have done ‘Starsky and Hutch’. I would do anything that has cars and comedy."
Dax – who plays California Highway patrol Officer Jon Baker in the movie – threw himself wholeheartedly into the stunt work on the film, and even wanted to tackle daring feats that had nothing to do with his character.
He admitted: "The insurance provider had an itemised list of every single stunt in the movie and I said, ‘OK, I want to do this and I want to do this and I want to do this … I want to drive the car in the opening scene.
"They’re like, ‘That’s not even your character’. I’m like, ‘I know, but that’s gonna be a fun stunt.’ They let me do a ton of stuff."
Dax was heavily influenced by another buddy cop movie, ‘Lethal Weapon’, when writing ‘CHIPS’ – even if it didn’t turn out quite the way he had expected.
He told Total Film magazine: "I happened to meet with (‘Lethal Weapon’ writer) Shane Black’s writing partner after I’d written the script and he said, ‘You know, you keep saying ‘Lethal Weapon’. I don’t think this is nearly as dark as ‘Lethal Weapon’.
"But Shane thought he was making ‘The French Connection’ and landed on ‘Lethal Weapon’. So if you aim at ‘Lethal Weapon’, you’ll land somewhere you like.’ I very much was watching ‘Lethal Weapon’ a bunch when I wrote this, and ‘Bad Boys’ is my other favourite buddy cop movie."
