David Walliams sets sights on being in first same-sex Strictly couple

David Walliams would love to appear on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ as part of the show’s first-ever same-sex couple.
The 47-year-old comedian has set his sights on teaming up with pro dancer Anton du Beke, admitting he would love to appear on the programme because he would lose weight and his mum would be happy to watch him on the Latin and ballroom series.
He said: "My mum would like me to do Strictly. I don’t think I ever have been asked to do it. I would like to do it because there are two reasons. One is, you get to lose weight, it’s a brilliant way to lose weight.
"And the second thing is you often get close with the professional dancer, so I want Anton du Beke. That is my dream. It would be fun. I like the dancing."
The former ‘Little Britain’ star also joked there will come a time when every celebrity will have appeared on ‘Strictly’.
Speaking on ‘The Jonathan Ross Show’ – which airs on Saturday (08.12.18) – he added: "The day will come won’t it, when we will all be on there."
David’s comments come just three months after Anton admitted he would "give it a go" dancing with a man on the show.
He told BANG Showbiz: "We’ll have to wait and see if it’s ever a thing.
"My only thing about it is how they would judge it? It would be interesting to see how they’re going to judge it.
"If you’ve got a same-sex couple, you’ve got two girls dancing together or two fellas dancing together, it’s not the same as a boy and girl dancing together.
"So from a prospective of judging it they’d have to find a criteria way of doing it. Once they’ve done that I think it could potentially happen, but we’ll have to wait and see.
"If they give me a fella I’d give it a go, why not?"
