David Walliams’ new book is dedicated to Pride of Britain Award winner

David Walliams’ new book is dedicated to Pride of Britain Award winner Dante.
The 48-year-old star has revealed he’s looking forward to giving a copy of his new book ‘Slime’ to Dante, an 11-year-old schoolboy who was born with a brittle bone disease and scoliosis, and has already broken or fractured 92 bones during his life.
Appearing on ‘This Morning’ via a video link, David explained: "The idea came when I met Dante through Variety, the Children’s Charity and he said could you write a book about a boy in a wheel chair.
"I wanted to write a really fun book, because he’s such a brilliantly fun character and I had the idea about slime coming to life, because kids love it.
"I was uncertain whether to bring it out at this time, but I think people are grateful to have things that are entertaining and fun. And I think especially with kids you don’t want to think about this thing 24 hours a day.
"I didn’t want to write a sentimental book about a boy in a wheelchair. I wanted it to be an adventure that any child would have.
"It’s a real pleasure to dedicate the book to him and I can’t wait to give him a copy in person."
Dante has worked tirelessly to raise awareness of the Variety charity.
He has also recorded a track with world-renowned music producer Mike Chapman, in honour of his Mum and Mum’s everywhere.
Dante – whose song is raising money for Variety – said: "I can’t believe David wrote a book for me! I’m so excited to finally see someone like me starring in one of his books.
"I always say there are no disabilities only abilities and now other children will see that too when they read ‘Slime’. I always do what I can do support Variety, like they have supported me.
"I’m so excited to have been given the opportunity to record this track. Everyone knows that I love singing and dancing, so it was a dream come true when Mike invited me along to his studio."
