David Walliams and Sheridan Smith teaming up for After Ever After special

David Walliams will star alongside Sheridan Smith and Blake Harrison in ‘Jack & The Beanstalk: After Ever After’.

The 49-year-old actor and children’s author has teamed up with the Dawson Brothers on the script for the upcoming Christmas special, which follows on from the success of Sky One and NOW TV’s ‘Cinderella: After Ever After’.

David – who also stars as the Giant – said: "I often wondered what happened to Jack after ever after, so I decided to write a sequel because I can’t stop writing books!

"This is a star-studded festive treat – a comedy sequel to one of the best loved English fairy tales. I am delighted to be playing the Giant, alongside some of the biggest names in British TV."

‘The Inbetweeners’ star Blake has been cast as Dodgy Dave – who sold Jack the magic beans – and Sheridan will play giant killer The Woman With No Name.

She added: "This is a brilliantly funny piece and I’m so excited to be working with David again.

"My part ‘The Woman with No Name’ is a really fun part and like every baddie, she gets her comeuppance in the end!

"After the year we’ve had it’s the perfect story for Christmas that the whole family can enjoy together."

Production is set to get underway next month, and the one hour special will give viewers an idea of what happens to their favourite fairy tale characters after "happily ever after".

Jon Mountague – director of comedy at Sky Studios – commented: "Christmas is a time for love and cheer. And beanstalks.

"Once again David Walliams has bought a fairy tale cast to deliver a genuinely unique twist on an absolute classic. Fe Fi Fo Fum – I smell a wonderful treat for all the family this Christmas on Sky One."

Meanwhile, Sky has also confirmed plans for a third ‘After Ever After’ special from King Bert Productions, with David and Kevin Cecil penning a script for ‘Hansel & Gretel’.

The former ‘Little Britain’ star will once again lead the cast, with further announcements to follow.
