David Thewlis to star in Rare Beasts

David Thewlis is set to star in Billie Piper’s directorial debut, ‘Rare Beasts’.
The 55-year-old actor has joined the cast of the upcoming "unromantic comedy", which is being directed by ‘Doctor Who’ alum Billie Piper, who is also starring in the production.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, David – who is most known for his role as Remus Lupin in the ‘Harry Potter’ film franchise, and recently had a role in season three of ‘Fargo’ – has been cast alongside Leo Bill, Kerry Fox, and Toby Woolf in the movie, which has already started principal photography.
‘Rare Beasts’ sees Billie playing a woman in crisis, who is raising a boy named Larch (Toby) in a female revolution and writing a book about a love that no longer exists.
Billie’s character then meets a troubled man named Peter (Leo), who seeks traditional dynamics and a sense of worth in this current female movement.
Speaking about the project, Billie said: "’Rare Beasts’ is a cautionary tale. Where do we all go after the fallout between men and women? And who do we really need at the end of it all? I’ve been longing to talk ‘dramatically’ about the world I see around me and ultimately, I’ve always wanted to make my own films. This is a wonderful moment."
The film is being produced by Vaughan Sivell of Western Edge Pictures, in association with Moffen Media Limited.
Vaughan Sivell, Franki Goodwin, Mike Rattenbury, and Will Kane will executive produce for Western Edge, whilst Paul Higgins will produce for Fields Park, and Josh Varney and Ben Pugh will represent 42.
Billie Piper is also set to executive produce.
