David Tennant: Holidays are pointless

David Tennant doesn’t see the point in holidays.

The 43-year-old actor doesn’t enjoy going on vacation because he never knows what to do when he gets to his destination.

He said: "These days I don’t really see the point of holidays. I never quite know what you’re supposed to do."

The former ‘Doctor Who’ star has two children with his wife Georgia Moffett, as well as being step-father to Georgia’s first child, and admitted that he reluctantly heads on the odd holiday to satisfy his kids.

He added to Radio Times: "It changes a bit when you’ve got kids but I’m very happy staying at home and pottering around. I’m away so much for work that when I’ve got time off I just want to stay in London."

However, the ‘Broadchurch’ actor hasn’t always been so apathetic towards getaways, admitting that he has fond memories of holidaying on an island off the coast of Scotland as a youngster.

He joked: "It was everything you’d expect of a beach holiday in Scotland – freezing temperatures, getting stung by jellyfish and avoiding the sewage outlet as you tried to swim in the sea. If there was a glimpse of sun, there was an imperative to put your trunks on even if it was pretty miserable. But that’s what childhood memories are all about isn’t it? I loved it."
