David Jason launches Trigger’s broom campaign for social distancing

Sir David Jason has launched a new campaign to encourage social distancing.
The ‘Only Fools And Horses’ star has channelled Trigger – played by the late Roger Lloyd-Pack – with a call to arms urging fans to imagine holding the character’s broom at arm’s length.
Speaking on YouTube, he said: "If anybody comes within that distance, it’s Trigger’s broom! You just say, ‘Trigger’s.’ Or you could just say, ‘Broom.’
"And if somebody says, ‘Sorry, I don’t understand what you’re talking about’, then you can explain it, and once you have explained it, you might have made a new friend, you never know.
"Anyway, keep your peckers up, it won’t be long now.
"Remember, with Trigger’s broom we’ll beat this soon. OK, good luck."
While imagining the broom at arm’s length would be around 9ft, the UK government is telling people to stay more than two metres (6.5ft) from anyone outside their own household.
David’s advice comes after he announced plans for his third autobiography ‘A Del of a Life’, which would reveal some of the "hard-won lessons" he’s learned over the years.
He recently said: "In my first two books, I enjoyed sharing my life with the great British public, and I was overwhelmed by their support and kindness.
"In my new book, ‘A Del of a Life’, I am delighted to share with readers some of the hard-won lessons I’ve learned along the way – how to dream big, how to work hard, and how not to fall through the gap in the pub bar."
