Dave ‘signs up for Soccer Aid’

Dave has signed up for ‘Soccer Aid’.

The 22-year-old rapper is said to have been added to the star-studded list of celebrities who are set to showcase their football skills during the behind-closed-doors charity match in September.

An insider told The Sun newspaper: "Dave is a huge signing for ‘Soccer Aid’.

"He’s never played in it before because his schedule has always been packed. But now, like so many others in the industry, his diary’s cleared because of Covid."

Robbie Williams, Olly Murs and McFly’s Danny Jones have all already committed to appearing in the charity game.

At the moment, no venue has been confirmed for the match, but Old Trafford – the home of Manchester United – is currently thought to be the most likely destination.

‘Soccer Aid’ was created in 2006 by Robbie Williams and Jonathan Wilkes, and typically sees an England XI take on a World XI, with both teams comprised of celebrities and former professionals.

Dave is a passionate United fan and previously revealed he’s played football his "entire life".

He shared: "I’m not a bad player, but it’s not moving me and my mum out of Streatham in this lifetime.

"But there was a point where Juss, who’s always with me and raps, and a few friends turned around and said, ‘Rap is something you’re good at.’ My friends helped me find that. But you gotta work mad hard at it.

"I remember being in college and girls would say: ‘Oh, he’s cool, but he doesn’t make the music that I would listen to, you wouldn’t hear him in a club.’

"It’s not my strongest point, singing or melody or rapping upbeat, uptempo, I’m not some crazy, hype, off-the-wall, flashy type of guy. But I learned quickly that collaboration and putting yourself out of your comfort zone, that’s the stuff that takes you further."
