Dave Grohl would make great director

Dave Grohl could become a director.

The Foo Fighters frontman could have a career as a film director after he successful created a documentary to mark the band’s 20th anniversary.

Speaking about his friend’s potential career change, Foo Fighters bassist Nate Mendel said: "I think maybe this is a path for Dave, he’s directed videos for us and other little projects."

The ‘Monkey Wrench’ rocker made the documentary whilst he and his band mates – Nate, Pat Smear, Taylor Hawkins and Chris Shiflett – travelled across America recording tracks for their new album ‘Sonic Highways’.

In a trailer for the film, Dave explained:"I thought rather than just go into a studio and make another record, we could go all over the country and make a record where each song was recorded in a different studio.

"Basically, the process is we come to a city and we spend a week and we start recording an instrumental, because I interview all of these different musicians from that city.

"There’s no way that you can tell the history of a city’s music in one hour, so we have to do it in a way that relates to the band and goes from point A to point B and becomes a song."

"The night before recording the vocals he would write the lyrics based on the experiences of the city then go in and sing them."

The first two episodes of the documentary, ‘Sonic Highways’ airs on BBC Four on Sunday, October 26.
