Danny Walters didn’t have NTA speech prepared

Danny Walters didn’t have a speech prepared for the National Television Awards.
The ‘EastEnders’ star – who is known for playing Keanu Taylor in the long-running soap – scooped the Best Newcomer gong at this year’s glamorous event, held at London’s The O2 arena, last night (23.01.18) but he was convinced he didn’t stand a chance of bagging the prize earlier on in the evening so he didn’t have a speech rehearsed.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, he said: "No, not really, I didn’t have a speech prepared. I was just very humble to be nominated in the first place. We don’t do this job for the awards or anything – that’s a bonus. We do it because we love it."
The 24-year-old hunk joined the BBC show last year – just months after he turned his back on ‘Benidorm’, in which he played Tiger Dyke, but there was a moment where he didn’t have any work and he is surprised by how quickly life can turn around.
He explained: "The world and life works in very mysterious ways. But I’m very grateful on a daily basis to be in this industry."
But Danny didn’t have any trouble settling into the cast when he did join ‘EastEnders’ as they took him under their wing and he now feels firmly part of the family.
He said: "It’s scary, it’s daunting when you first join another show because everyone already knows what they’re doing on the job. But everyone is so nice; it’s like a little family there so it’s really nice to be part of ‘EastEnders’."
And his alter ego has a lot more exciting scenes coming up as Keanu is part of the on-going heist and his co-star Tilly Keeper – who plays Louise Mitchell – has teased that the storyline is set to go on for the next year or so and will involve lots of characters.
She said: "It’s involving a lot of characters and I think it’s going to unveil a lot of sides to characters that you haven’t seen before or perhaps old sides to characters are coming back out to play. It’s going to be interesting to see how that plays out over the year."
