Daniel Radcliffe: Michael Caine was my role model

Daniel Radcliffe says he "modelled" himself on Sir Michael Caine.
The pair appear together in magician heist movie ‘Now You See Me 2’ and the 26-year-old star – who found fame playing the titular wizard in the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise – has admitted that long before he had ever met the legendary actor he tried to emulate him.
He said: "On my first Harry Potter film I was working with friends of Michaels who told me stories about him, they said he walked onto the set and by the end of that day he learned everyone’s name. I tried to do that as best I can as well. It’s about being really effortless, no ego, I think way before I ever met him, I had modelled myself on him a little bit."
And when Radcliffe finally got to work with 83-year-old Caine – whose acting credits include ‘Zulu’, ‘Alfie’, ‘The Dark Knight’ and ‘Inception’ – he was amazed by his talent and by him as a person.
Discussing what it was like working with Caine on set, Radcliffe told Balance Magazine: "Jesus, I was in awe the whole time, he could not be more everything you want him to be."
Radcliffe has firmly moved on from his child star days and the role of Harry Potter.
New stage show ‘Harry Potter and the Cursed Child’ – written by J.K. Rowling – has just opened in London but Radcliffe won’t be going to see the production because he would be mobbed by fans in the audience.
He said: "It would be a weird one. I could be completely wrong in this, but I feel like if I went to see it that night, there’s going to be a lot of ‘Harry Potter’ fans there in the audience obviously and would that then become a thing?
"Would it be more about them watching me watch the show or would it take away from the show. I would never want to do anything that would distract or take away from the show."
