Dancing On Ice gets new home

‘Dancing On Ice’ is getting a "glitzy" new home.
The revamped celebrity skating contest was previously staged in Elstree, Herts., but when it returns next year, the stars will be showcasing their moves on a purpose-built rink at nearby Bovingdon Airfield, which is best known as a location for the ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ and ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows’ movies.
A source told The Sun newspaper: "It’s an ambitious plan but bosses want to make sure they have free rein over how it will look.
"With the temporary rinks, it means they can build them from scratch with all their own fittings.
"There will be one training rink and one performance rink and it’ll look glitzier than ever.
"Bovingdon is a great space and its filming history helps give the show some extra sparkle."
Producers are slowly announcing the line-up for the reboot and, so far, it’s been confirmed that presenter Donna Air, cricketer Monty Panesar, ‘Great British Bake Off’s Candice Brown, rugby hunk Max Evans, ‘Love Island’ winner Kem Cetinay, ‘Coronation Street’ actress Brooke Vincent, Bucks Fizz’s Cheryl Baker, weather presenter Alex Beresford and ‘X Factor’ reject Jake Quickenden will take part.
More celebrities will be announced in due course but, for now, it’s been confirmed that acid-tongue Australian Jason Gardiner has reclaimed his position on the judging panel alongside Jayne Torvill and Christopher Dean – who previously mentored the contestants but have now switched positions – and Diversity dancer Ashley Banjo.
Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield will return as hosts.
Panel newcomer Ashley recently admitted he’s expecting to clash with veteran judge Jason.
He said: "I can imagine us clashing. Do I look like I can be bullied? No chance. I’m going to have to start thinking of witty one-liners. Jason is very good at that. He is the king of the one-liners, let’s hope he’s not lost it."
