Cyndi Lauper works out to stop studio stress

Cyndi Lauper always has an "elastic workout band" with her in the studio – to stop her from getting "antsy".
The ‘Girls Just Want To Have Fun’ hitmaker has just released her new album ‘Detour’ – her first ever collection of country songs – which she recorded in Nashville with producer Tony Brown and artists including Willie Nelson, Alison Krauss and Jewel.
Cyndi admits she can get stressed and restless when in the studio for hours and so has the exercise aid on hand to keep her busy.
Speaking to UsMagazine.com, she said: "If I’m going in the studio, I know I’ll get antsy. So I take an elastic workout band with me to do triceps while I’m sitting there."
Cyndi, 62, also uses the healing power of holistic crystals to keep her relaxed.
The ‘Misty Blue’ singer purchased the mystical rocks in Australia and would carry them round on her person to channel their supposed powers.
She explained: "I have crystal rocks that ground me, like a little heart that I got when I was in Australia. I used to carry them in my pockets, but they’re heavy. You don’t want to hurt yourself!"
Now she’s in her 60s, Cyndi – who has 18-year-old son Declyn with her husband David Thornton – feels as though she is very self-aware about what sort of person she is, although she is always striving to better herself.
She previously stated: "I believe I have no qualifications, and that’s what makes me most qualified. There’s less nervousness when you just go about doing something new. It makes it easier for me to learn … And I am hard-working, passionate, compassionate, can be self-centred, try not to be self-centred, and a live-life-to-the-fullest kind of person."
