Cyndi Lauper sells home for $804k

Cyndi Lauper has sold her Connecticut home for $804,625 – nearly half a million less than its original asking price.
The 64-year-old music legend wrote five of her albums and her musical ‘Kinky Boots’ at the estate, where she lived for more than 30 years, but she has now offloaded the abode for $445,375 less than the initial $1.25 million price.
Real estate broker Michael Leventhal told the Stamford Advocate: "[The listing] got worldwide attention and a lot of interest at [the original] price point.
"But the physics of real estate in general and the state of the market right now came into play. We decided to price it aggressively and got at least five or six offers in a bidding war."
The ‘Girls Just Want to Have Fun’ hitmaker bought the three-bedroom property in 1986, just 11 years after it was built, and has lived there with her actor husband Dave Thornton and their son, Declyn, 20.
The plush pad is said to be the first home Cyndi purchased, and Michael admitted the house had plenty of "creative energy" which helped the star to pen so many of her hit songs there.
He added: "It was very eclectic for her tastes.
"The front door was from an English manor from the 19th century. She had a guest house above the garage where she did a lot of writing and wrote a lot of her hit songs at that property. It was a place that had a lot of creative energy."
Cyndi used the garage as her music studio, where she put her platinum records on display, and the main house features several pieces of French art, including a train car bench imported from Paris.
Outside the abode, there is a kidney-shaped swimming pool alongside a pool deck built into the side of a ravine which leads down to a lake, as well as a wrap-around stone terrace.
The ‘Time After Time’ star, who has sold more than 50 million records throughout her career, is said to have decided to put her house on the market after her son went to college, and she now resides in Manhattan with Dave.
