Cyndi Lauper believes there’s ‘a lot of darkness’ in life

Cyndi Lauper believes there’s "a lot of darkness’ in life.
The 63-year-old singer – who has batted with depression throughout her career – has admitted she tries to stay positive by bringing "a lot of light" to herself because she thinks the world can be too dark a place.
Speaking to Closer magazine about her outlook on the world, the ‘Girls Just Wanna Have Fun’ hitmaker said: "There’s a lot of darkness (in life), but there’s also a lot of light.
"I really try to bring a lot of light to myself."
And the musician – who has 18-year-old son Declyn with her husband David Thornton – has revealed she is a "family person" and loves "the heck" out of her brood, which helps to keep her strong.
She said: "And I’m a family person. I love the heck out of them."
Meanwhile the star, who has enjoyed a successful career in the music and entertainment industry spanning over 30 years, doesn’t believe she has "ever achieved greatness".
She explained: "I don’t think I have ever achieved greatness despite everything I’ve done … but it’s not so much greatness, it’s happiness you need to focus on. Enjoying life is the best revenge. You have to stay connected to life and the things that excite you. Life is for learning."
And Cyndi has also claimed people have taken advantage of her throughout her career.
Speaking previously, she said: "I was never smart about money like Prince. I wish I wasn’t taken advantage of so much.
"You can’t live your whole life worrying about staying famous. If losing some fame means doing what you want, you gotta go with what you want.
"I think I have reached an age when I can have pink hair if I want – or blue hair. But blue, it turns a little green, so right now I am going with the pink."
