Cyndi Lauper and Earth, Wind and Fire honoured with Grammy Salutes

Earth, Wind and Fire and Cyndi Lauper have been honoured with a Grammy Salute.

The accolade is a special concert presented by the Recording Academy, which celebrates the contributions of musical artists, genres, or significant moments in music, and it also features live performances from a string of music legends.

Six-time Grammy winners Earth, Wind and Fire, and two-time award-winner Lauper, 72, will receive televised special programmes, recorded live from the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles, California.

A Grammy Salute to Earth, Wind and Fire: The 21st Night of September airs on Sunday, September 21.

The show – which is available to stream on Paramount+, and is being broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8-10pm ET/PT – will see the legendary band perform with the Los Angeles Philharmonic.

Earth, Wind and Fire’s hit songs – including September, Let’s Groove and Shining Star – will be honoured, and special guests, including Stevie Wonder, 75, the Jonas Brothers, Jon Batiste, 38, and Janelle Monae, 39, will make an appearance.

A Grammy Salute to Cyndi Lauper: Live from the Hollywood Bowl – which will also stream on Paramount+, and be broadcast on the CBS Television Network from 8-10pm ET/PT – airs on Sunday, October 5.

The show was filmed over two nights after Lauper brought the curtain down on her year-long Girls Just Wanna Have Fun Farewell Tour.

Helping to create the concert that honours the 80s pop icon’s smash-hits – including Girls Just Want to Have Fun, Time After Time, and True Colors – is a series of special guests.

These include Joni Mitchell, 81, Cher, 79, Angelique Kidjo, 65, John Legend, 46, SZA, 35, Mickey Guyton, 42, Trombone Shorty, 39, and Jake Wesley Rogers, 28.

It will also feature video tributes from Lauper, Brandi Carlile, 44, Ken Ehrlich, 82, Harvey Mason Jr., 57, Brian Burke, 70, and Lisa Barbaris.

Past recipients of Grammy salute specials include The Beatles, the late Prince, and Neil Diamond, 84.
