Cruz Beckham opens up about life’s highs and lows on titular track from debut EP Wear and Tear

Cruz Beckham opens up on the highs and lows of life on his new song Wear and Tear.

The title track from the 21-year-old indie star’s upcoming debut EP, due August 21, is a coming-of-age tale about the life lessons that shape you.

It continues the raw, guitar‑driven sound he’s been building with his band The Breakers, with bright guitars, psychedelic riffs and a chorus built for shouting back at him from a festival crowd.

It’s produced by Justin Raisen and Lewis Pesacov – whose credits include Kim Gordon, Joji and Charli xcx.

Cruz – who has grown up in the spotlight as the son of Sir David Beckham and Lady Victoria Beckham – says of the song: “Wear and Tear is synonymous to a life lived and all your life experiences so far – the good and the bad, the learning curves, and everything in between. No matter how different every human experience is, we all have had at least a few similar emotions that make us all human. We’ve been high, and low, in love and in pain, jealous, upset – we’ve lived and learned. We’ve all got our wear and tear.”

The debut EP follows a string of singles that have gone down a treat at his shows with The Breakers, including Yeah Yeah Yeah, the Risky Business‑inspired Waste Your Pain, and For Your Love, the song he says helped him find his sound.

Cruz’s live shows have earned him praise across the board.

In July, he’ll head out on his first-ever US headline tour, with festival stops locked in for Reading and Leeds, Rock N Roll Circus, Lollapalooza, Outside Lands and Shaky Knees.

It follows the success of his first UK headline tour, which saw him play key grassroots venues across the UK, including King Tuts and Komedia, before wrapping with three sold‑out nights at London’s Courtyard Theatre.
