Craig Revel Horwood drank whiskey that killed his father

Craig Revel Horwood drank the whiskey that killed his father.
The 53-year-old television judge lost his dad Philip when he got behind the wheel of his car five times over the drink-driving limit after having drunk homemade bourbon which was gifted to him by a "well-meaning neighbour".
After his father passed away, Craig travelled to Australia to clear out his father’s house, and says he and his sister finished the strong drink "for some macabre reason".
He said: "A well-meaning neighbour gave him a batch as an early Christmas present and for some reason we will never understand, he decided to crack it open that weekend.
"Being a beer-only alcoholic, this was unusual behaviour.
"For some macabre reason, my sister Sue kept the bottle with a tiny drop that was left and we tasted it when I was home."
The ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ judge used the money he inherited from his father to build a wine cellar, and although the room is filled with booze, he uses it as a reminder not to follow his father into alcoholism.
He added: "I wanted to do something that would pay homage to my father and remind me that if you drink too much, or if you drank that whole fridge, you would be dead.
"The drink killed him. It’s a constant reminder that one should consider alcohol and what you drink."
Craig also has a plaque on a bench dedicated to his father which features his morning mantra: "Heave ho, heave ho, heave ho, lash up and stow."
Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, he said: "When I sit on that bench it reminds me he was a human being with desperately dark problems.
"Only other people who have been through it could possibly understand there is a nice side to alcoholics."
