Craig Parkinson to star in Killed By My Debt

Craig Parkinson is to star in new BBC drama ‘Killed By My Debt’.
The ‘Line of Duty’ actor will appear opposite Juliet Cowan, Tom Walker and Chance Perdomo in a BBC Three production which tells the tragic story of a 19-year-old motorbike courier who took his own life after his parking tickets debt escalated.
The one-hour factual drama tells the true story of Jerome Rogers (Chance), who was slapped with two £65 traffic fines which escalated to more than £1,000.
After his bike, which was his only source of income, was clamped he sadly took his own life.
Craig plays The Bailiff in the drama, while Juliet portrays Jerome’s mum Tracey Rogers, Tom stars as Jerome’s CitySprint controller, and Calvin Demba and Steve Toussaint will take on the roles of Jerome’s brother, and Tracey’s partner Bentley Duncan respectively.
Director Joseph Bullman and writer Tahsin Guner worked closely with Jerome’s family, and with the testimony and evidence given to the inquest into Jerome’s death
Damian Kavanagh, controller of BBC Three, said: "This drama is an incredibly important British story and a devastating examination of the damage wrought on one family by low income, unstable jobs and debt.
"It is an issue that affects many in the country, mainly young people, and I’m proud that BBC Three continues to bring thought-provoking, powerful storytelling to younger audiences."
Aysha Rafaele, executive producer, added: "BBC Three is unrivalled in its commitment to bringing the most urgent social issues to its young audience and with the support of Jerome’s family we are honoured to be able to help raise awareness of the devastating consequences of debt on young people’s lives."
‘Killed By My Debt’ will be available online later this month.
