Cory Monteith’s father thinks Lea Michele should "enjoy life."
Joe Monteith opened up about the late ‘Glee’ star ahead of the first anniversary of his death tomorrow (13.07.14), and isn’t upset that Cory’s girlfriend, 27, has started dating again.
He told ‘ET Canada’: "She’s a beautiful young woman, she’s just getting to the top of her career and I don’t expect her to go out and do it alone."
He added: "She should enjoy life. She had a good time when she was with Cory, from what I understand, but life’s gotta go on."
Lea, who had been in a relationship with Cory, 31, for 18 months when he was found dead in his hotel room from a heroin and alcohol overdose in Vancouver last July, recently started dating model Matthew Paetz.
Joe is still mourning his son although he was reportedly estranged from the actor for most of Cory’s life following his divorce from the star’s mother, Ann McGregor, in 1989.
He said: "I still miss him very much and I still have the empty feeling inside. Cory was a likeable young man and if he was in the room, you’d be smiling. He enjoyed life. That’s why I was so shocked about the outcome of everything."
