Corrie’s Dawn Acton won’t rule out acting return

Dawn Acton has hinted she could return to acting one day.
The former ‘Coronation Street’ star played Tracy Barlow on the cobbles for over a decade from 1988 to 1999, and while she moved on from that phase of her life, she has still stayed active with the occasional stage role in amateur dramatics.
When asked about a potential acting return on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, she said: "Never say never. You never know. I have done the odd bit of am-dram over the years, and you never know!"
She was the third actress to take on the role of Tracy after Christabel Finch and Holly Chamarette, while current star Kate Ford took over the part in 2002.
However, Dawn, 42, is very happy doing charity work for a local organisation which "supports other charities", admitting she has found it very rewarding "for well over 10 years".
She added: "I feel quite lucky because I get to see … obviously there’s some difficult things happening in the charity world, and the people they support, but I get to see some amazing people doing amazing things."
Despite being a world away from Weatherfield, the former soap star still feels a connection to ‘Corrie’ after starting on the cobbles when she was just 11 years old.
She explained: "It is part of my life. When you do 10 years of work like that, it’s part of my life, part of my growing up and who I am."
And finding fame at such a young age was life-altering for Dawn, who admitted she didn’t quite "realise the impact" it would have.
She said: "Nothing quite prepares you for it so you don’t really realise the impact it’s going to have in terms of being recognised, all that kind of stuff. You don’t realise the impact it will have."
