Coronation Street’s Kym Marsh ‘punched’ look after shooting Alison King’s exit

Kym Marsh "looked like she’d been punched" after filming Alison King’s final ‘Coronation Street’ scene because she was so upset.
The 39-year-old actress – who plays Michelle McDonald on the show – was distraught to say goodbye to her co-star and friend, and both women didn’t need to act when it came to filming their emotional farewell.
Kym said: "Alison King, my best friend at ‘Corrie’, left the show last week and it was such a sad day. We shot our last scene together and that was just horrendous.
"Afterwards, I drove home with mascara rolling down my cheeks – I looked like I’d been punched.
"We were both devastated, but thankfully it was an emotional scene anyway.
"In fact, we didn’t really need to act and shot the scene in one take."
As well as organising a cast and crew gift of a camera for Alison – who played Carla Connor – Kym gave her friend some separate sentimental presents too.
She wrote in her column for OK! magazine: "Samia [Ghadie], Kate [Ford] and I chipped in separately and got Ali a watch as she told us she’d never had a grown-up watch before. I also had a photograph of the two of us blown up onto a canvas with the words ‘It’s good to see you smile’ written on it.
"That’s because whenever Ali’s character had a bad time and she’s come through it and is smiling again, my character Michelle always said that line. We laugh about the amount of times we’ve said it."
