Coronation Street’s Carla Connor will be Kate’s ‘confidant’

Coronation Street’s Carla Connor will be a "confidant" for her half-sister Kate Connor.
The waitress – played by Faye Brookes – is currently caught up in a love triangle after she became embroiled in a secret relationship with her best friend Rana Nazir (Bhavna Limbachia) – even though she’s married to Zeedan Nazir (Qasim Akhtar) – but, despite the heartbreaking festive season, she has her relative to lean on following her return.
Speaking to the RadioTimes.com, Faye said: "Carla will be a confidant for Kate, 100 per cent. After all the drama that’s happened to Carla, I don’t think that she is going to judge! Out of everyone, she’s the one Kate is going to turn to."
Alison reprised her role as Carla Connor earlier this month following 18 months away from the soap but, despite the time that has passed, she fitted back in on set well.
Faye explained: "Alison, Kym Marsh (Michelle Connor) and I are sharing a dressing room at the moment, and it is havoc! We have a really good relationship on and off screen and it’s nice to have Ali back. She said it has been so easy to return."
The soap’s executive producer Kate Oates decided to bring Carla back at the beginning of the year but she’s decided to go down a different route with her this time.
She said previously: "Ever since I got here, it’s been rumoured that Carla’s coming back. But it was never true. Even the latest indications of it. Ali has only just signed her contract and she’ll be back around Christmas. It’s time to break new ground with Carla. I didn’t want to put her on that familiar cycle of self-destruction, recovery, followed by more self-destruction … What we’ll have instead are these two strong Connor women – Carla and Michelle – on opposing sides and in conflict for a change. It’ll be a refreshing dynamic for us to see."
