Coronation Street star Sam Aston’s wife is pregnant

Sam Aston’s wife is expecting their first child.

The ‘Coronation Street’ actor – who plays Chesney Brown on the ITV soap – has revealed that he and his wife Briony are delighted by the news that they’re set to become parents.

He told OK! Online: "We’re so happy!"

The loved-up duo tied the knot last May at Stock Farm in Cheshire, and Briony later described the 26-year-old actor as a "lovely, lovely man".

She gushed: "I love everything about Sam. He’s really funny and he calms me down.

"I just know I’ve married a lovely, lovely man."

And the soap star added: "We’re really happy and we both know we’ve married the person we want to spend the rest of our lives with."

Sam and Briony have known each other since their mid-teens.

However, the couple’s first attempt at romance ended in failure, due to the long-distance nature of their relationship – but they bumped into each by chance years later at a drama workshop.

The actor – who joined ‘Coronation Street’ back in 2003 – previously recalled: "I was teaching and Briony was in the room next door. I think she might have given me a funny look when I first walked in, but we soon got past that and straight away we got talking.

"We went for a meal that night at a country pub and that was it. We’ve been together ever since."
