Coen Brothers named Cannes’ jury co-presidents

The Coen Brothers will be the co-presidents of this year’s jury at the Cannes International Film Festival.

Joel and Ethan are set to preside over the 2015 jury in recognition of their outstanding careers.

In a statement, they said: "We look forward to returning to Cannes this year. We welcome as always the opportunity to watch movies there from all over the world.

"Cannes is a festival that has been important to us since the very beginning of our career. Presiding over the jury is a special honour, since we have never heretofore been president of anything. We will issue further proclamations at the appropriate time."

The legendary duo are no strangers to the Cannes festival and have four previous wins at the annual event to add to their list of successes.

In 1991, they won the prestigious Palme d’Or for ‘Barton Fink’ whilst five years later, they collected the Best Director award for ‘Fargo’.

The pair collected the award again for their directorial work on ‘The Man Who Wasn’t There’ in 2001 and most recently, in 2013, they won the festival’s Grand Prix for ‘Inside Llewyn Davis’.

The brothers are currently working on ‘Hail, Caesar!’, a comedy starring some of the industry’s biggest names including George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson and Josh Brolin.

The film is set in 1950s Hollywood and follows the story of a group of actors who attempt to put on a play that is set in ancient Rome.

The 68th Cannes International Film Festival will begin on May 13 and will last for 11 days.
