Clive Tyldesley joins Just Eat

Clive Tyldesley has joined Just Eat as their official commentator in a shock transfer move – just weeks after he was left "upset, annoyed, and baffled" after he was "moved aside" in his role at ITV.

The 65-year-old broadcaster announced in July he had been replaced as number one footballer commentator at ITV by former Sky Sports News presenter Sam Matterface, but now he has added another string to his bow – commentating on takeaway orders.

The company is giving lucky customers a chance to have their takeaway order commentated by Clive on Saturday (03.10.20), as he swaps discussing penalty kicks to chat about chopsticks.

He has enlisted the help of West Ham’s Michail Antonio, Reading and England’s Danielle Carter and Fulham’s Tom Cairney, who have all had their plates commentated on by the broadcaster.

Clive said: "It was great to see how Michail, Danielle and Tom Cairney plated their Just Eat food delivery up. Now I’m looking forward to seeing the skills of the public.

"So, order through the Just Eat app, send me a short video of your order and I’ll do the rest."

The shock signing was scouted online by Just Eat after he put his boredom to one side, while there was no football on, to commentate on household duties, as well as his wife’s lasagne.

Food fans and others can try to win the chance to have Clive commentate on their takeaway orders on Saturday by simply downloading the Just Eat app and placing an order, then sending in a short video clip of them plating up their food delivery.

Andrew Kenny, UK Managing Director at Just Eat, said: "At Just Eat, we know many of our customers are as passionate about football as they are about great food – with the live games game being played without fans, we wanted to find a way to bring a little joy to the at home viewing experience.

"Giving fans the chance to get their Just Eat orders commentated by a legend like Clive will hopefully do just that."

To be in with a chance of having your plate commentated by Clive, simply film a 15-30 second video of your order and send it along with your Twitter username to commentate@just-eat.co.uk.

If Clive commentates on your plate, the official Just Eat Twitter account will tweet out your video.
