Christopher Eccleston had ‘wobble’ after candid mental health chats

Christopher Eccleston had "a wobble" after being so open about his mental health.
The former ‘Doctor Who’ star – who played the Ninth Doctor when the BBC classic returned in 2005 – has opened up about his struggle with anorexia and depression in his new book ‘I Love the Bones of You’, and he admitted promoting the memoir recently has affected him.
Appearing on ITV’s ‘Lorraine’, he said: "I did have a wobble a couple of weeks ago, definitely. The pressure of it and the exposure of talking about it in this way.
"What have I done, monetised my personal life? How has it affected my mum and dad? But I think, because I’m a parent, Albert and Esme keep me very focused."
The 55-year-old actor explained how the "pressure" of opening up about certain issues in interviews – as well as writing about them – can be difficult to deal with.
He added: "It caused a bit of a wobble a couple of weeks ago with some of the issues that are in the book. The intensity and doing things like this, talking about it on television … there is a pressure there."
However, Christopher – who also recently revealed his fears about dementia, and said he would consider ending his life in Switzerland if he was diagnosed with the disease – insisted he is glad being so open means other people going through the same things can find some comfort through his words.
He explained: "I’ve been taken aback [by the reaction], because I get stopped in the street … people are now stopping me and saying, ‘Thank you for speaking about depression, thank you for speaking about anorexia, dementia.’ "
