Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Amy Adams to star in Dick Cheney biopic

Christian Bale, Steve Carell and Amy Adams are being lined up for a Dick Cheney biopic.
Director-and-producer Adam McKay is working on a movie about the former Vice President of the United States and wants to reunite with Bale and Carell who both starred in his 2015 comedy movie ‘The Big Short’, which is the last project her directed, plus Adams who he cast in his 2006 film ‘Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby’.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Bale is in talks to play Cheney – a passionate supporter of strong anti-terrorist actions and a key supporter of the Iraq War – with Carell portraying Donald Rumsfeld, the secretary of defence under President George W. Bush whom Cheney served under, with Adams being lined up to star as the Vice President’s wife Lynne Cheney.
The script is now written following moths of research and although the movie is yet to get a title shooting is expected to start this spring with McKay producing the film for Paramount alongside Will Ferrell and Kevin Messick from his Gary Sanchez Productions. Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment is also producing.
Cheney is considered one of the most powerful Vice Presidents in recent years, having expanded the powers of the presidency and being heavily involved in intelligence gathering and foreign policy. And some will remember him for accidentally shooting Texas attorney Harry Whittington during a hunting trip.
Bale – who is most famous for playing Batman in ‘The Dark Knight’ trilogy – will next be seen on screen in ‘The Promise’, an historical romantic drama set during the final years of the Ottoman Empire.
Carell is busy filming ‘Beautiful Boy’ for Amazon Studios and following her busy 2016 which saw her star in ‘Arrival’, ‘Nocturnal Animals’ and ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ Adams will be seen as reporter Lois Lane again in DC Comics superhero ensemble movie ‘Justice League’ this November.
