Chris Tarrant’s ex-wife ‘doesn’t rate’ Jeremy Clarkson on Millionaire

Ingrid Tarrant "doesn’t rate" Jeremy Clarkson as the host of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?’
The 65-year-old star – who was married to Chris Tarrant for 16 years before they split in 2007 – believes the former ‘Top Gear’ co-host hasn’t "successfully taken over" fronting the quiz show, which her ex-husband presented from 1998 to 2014.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I’ve never even seen Chris on TV since I left. I can’t bear to look at his lying eyes and the insincerity.
"But I have seen Jeremy doing ‘Millionaire’ and I don’t rate him at all.
"I don’t think he has successfully taken over the role."
Chris, 73, acted as quiz-master on the ITV show before stepping down in 2014, and ‘The Grand Tour’ presenter took on the role four years later when the show was revived to celebrate its 20th anniversary.
Jeremy, 59, returned this year for a revamped series.
The format was changed slightly with a new Ask the Host lifeline added to the show – which requires contestants to answer 15 questions correctly to win £1 million – alongside originals Phone A Friend, Ask The Audience, and 50:50.
Jeremy admitted he would have an "uncomfortable night" if he got a question wrong during the Ask the Host lifeline.
He said: "If it was a low amount – in the hundreds – definitely.
"If I got it wrong though I’d have an uncomfortable night.
"I’ve never cost anyone money. I’ve said I don’t know if I don’t.
"But this time round I’ve been better. I’ve been lucky. They’ve asked me questions I’ve known the answers to."
Chris has previously admitted he would’ve "politely turned down" an offer to return to ‘Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?’ had he been asked.
His spokesperson previously said: "Chris thought the programme had run its course.
"He wasn’t approached but if he was, he would have politely turned it down. Chris is delighted it’s back and wishes it well."
