Chris Martin saved by music

Chris Martin believes music saved his life.
The Coldplay frontman was able to channel his feelings during his marriage problems to Gwyneth Paltrow – who he split from in March – into new album ‘Ghost Stories’ and feels "grateful" he has an outlet for his emotions.
He told Steve Wright’s Big Show on Radio 2: "You can choose your paths in life, I find, when you get to a point where you’re like ‘I could either jump off a bridge or I could try and turn this around’.
"I’m sure lots of people have that in much harder instances. You just find the right tools.
"I feel so grateful. Especially over the last couple of years, music has been alchemising.
"Going through something difficult in your life, music for me is always a friend and something that helps you to figure things out. That’s always what I’m doing in the middle of the night."
Chris – who has children Apple, 10, and Moses, eight, with Gwyneth – claims he "needed" to write the group’s new album, and has no idea how other people have perceived the record.
He added: "It’s so important for me that album, it hasn’t really crossed my mind what it means for anyone else. Because I needed it.
"I’m very grateful to be here. Every day is a blessing. That’s how I feel."
Meanwhile, the ‘Magic’ singer admitted he has always given 10 per cent of his earnings to charity and thinks others should follow suit.
He said: When I got pocket money as a kid, my mum said you should give 10 per cent away, and so we just keep that rule.
"I don’t think it is corny at all, I think it would be amazing if all companies did that."
