Chris Evans for Strictly Come Dancing 2019

Chris Evans has confirmed he will compete on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ next year.
The 52-year-old radio presenter has accepted an offer to appear on the Latin and ballroom series, and says he will take part in the show so his wife, Natasha Shishmanian, can watch the programme from the studio every week.
When asked by TV presenter Alex Jones on Wednesday night’s (19.12.18) ‘The One Show’ whether he could confirm or deny he will be on ‘Strictly’, Chris replied: "Well, I have said yes.
"Probably only because my wife would like to go every week.
"You’d know because you get a pair of tickets don’t you?
"So you and my wife can go and have a great time and I will be terrified backstage."
Alex’s co-host Matt Baker then said: "You’re making a bid for the final if you think you’ll be there every week."
Chris said: "No, no no! Hang on a minute, you get a pair of tickets every week anyhow don’t you?
"Look, it’s not about me, it’s about Tash getting in with Al and some of her other friends."
He later admitted he hasn’t actually put pen to paper on a contract for the show, but did accept an offer from the programme’s commissioning editor Jo Wallace over a cup of tea.
This comes just days after Alan Carr confirmed he was approached by ‘Strictly’ producers about appearing on the programme, and while he is keen to get his dancing shoes on, the TV presenter is too busy to take part next year.
He said: "Oh my listen. Listen! I will do it but next year I’ve got a busy year, I’m going on tour!
"They cornered me and they said, ‘Would you do it?’ and I would do it but I hate those VTs where you know, ‘We’re doing Salsa so we’re off to a dips factory,’ you know what I mean?
"They go to Chester Zoo or a museum, but I’m like, I need to be in the studio now doing the Argentine Tango. Step away from the rhino – I want to stick a rose in my mouth and do the thing!"
