Children in Need reveals fundraising total

BBC Children in Need raised more than £60 million in 2017.
The charity have thanked the public for their fundraising efforts after revealing over £60.7 million was generated for charitable causes across the UK last year.
They posted on twitter: "Thanks to your donations, we raised an amazing £60.7 million last year.@OreOduba recently visited Hackney Playbus to see where your money goes. We fund Hackney Playbus to bring play into families out in the community."
Of the total figure, over £50 million was raised on the night of the annual TV broadcast – which was fronted by Tess Daly, Graham Norton, Mel Giedroyc, Ade Adepitan and Rochelle and Marvin Humes – while ‘The One Show’s annual Rickshaw Challenge, and ‘Countryfile’s calendar and ramble weekends also contributed.
But the organisation have hailed the efforts of their "fantastic" supporters for this year’s total sum.
Simon Antrobus, chief executive of BBC Children in Need, said: "People across the UK should be feeling incredibly proud.
"It is hard to put into words what an enormous impact this money will have on the lives of disadvantaged children and young people across the UK who need it most.
"To our fantastic supporters who made this possible, and who once again went above and beyond to make a difference: thank you, we couldn’t have done it without you."
Funding from ‘Children in Need’ is donated to over 2,700 projects across the country, which are aimed at helping disadvantaged children.
Over the last 12 months, the organisation have been able to help over 58,000 young people in the UK, with the money directed towards those facing illness, disability, trauma or poverty.
