Charlie Webster out of coma

Charlie Webster has been brought out of her coma.
The 33-year-old sports presenter has been fighting for her life in Rio after contracting a rare strain of malaria, but her condition is improving as she is now conscious and doctors have removed a tube that was being used to maintain her breathing.
And Charlie has even been communicating from her bed.
Her mother Joy said: "Charlotte knows she nearly died, she mouthed to me earlier ‘look at all the machines keeping me alive.’
"Charlotte is really strong but as the doctors keep reminding me, everyone heals differently.
"I am just so thankful that she’s able to communicate with us again.
"It’s been the worst imaginable time – we have been beside ourselves with worry, but the fact Charlotte is now conscious is amazing."
And Joy thinks her daughter is already ready to start watching the Olympics again, albeit only on television.
She added: "Knowing Charlotte, the thing she’ll be most annoyed about is that she’s missed the Olympics. She will be especially gutted not to have seen Nicola Adams fight today – there’s a TV on the wall, so hopefully she can at least watch the Women’s Boxing final."
Doctors are pleased with her neurological results but she remains on dialysis as her kidneys are not responding to treatment.
Medics are now hoping to stabilise the sports reporter’s condition so she can return to Britain for further treatment.
A spokesperson said: "Charlie’s family and friends have been incredibly touched by the overwhelming support and love shown to Charlie today.
"Their main focus now is for Charlie to be stable enough to fly back to the UK."
was rushed to hospital last week after she began vomiting while attending the opening ceremony for the Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on August 5.
She was initially treated for extreme dehydration as she had just completed a 3,000 mile charity bike, which saw her start in London and go through France, Spain and Portugal before she flew to north Brazil and rode to Rio for the ceremony.
Last week, she told fans she had contracted a "serious infection" but her condition got worse as her kidneys stopped functioning and she was struggling to breathe.
Charlie is in Rio as one of the presenters for Team GB.
