Charlie Brooker doesn’t think time is right for more Black Mirror

Charlie Brooker doesn’t think people could "stomach" more ‘Black Mirror’ at the moment.
The 49-year-old star – who created and wrote the dystopian anthology series – has suggested the typically dark science fiction show might not be want audiences want due to the coronavirus pandemic, and so he’s concentrating on other ideas.
He told Radio Times magazine: "I’ve been busy, doing things. I don’t know what I can say about what I’m doing and not doing.
"At the moment, I don’t know what stomach there would be for stories about societies falling apart, so I’m not working away on one of those.
"I’m sort of keen to revisit my comic skill set, so I’ve been writing scripts aimed at making myself laugh."
Charlie will be back on screen soon with the first ‘Screenwipe’ series since 2016 as he returns with ‘Antiviral Wipe’, which is being created in lockdown.
The BBC recently said: "Charlie will be taking a typically sharp look at life in lockdown, in a show made during lockdown.
"As well as coverage of the crisis itself, he’ll also be looking at the things people are watching and doing to keep themselves occupied.
"The show will also feature Philomena Cunk (Diane Morgan) with her own very special brand of in-depth reporting, alongside Barry S**tpeas (Al Campbell) and other contributors who haven’t been told they’re doing it yet, but have no good excuse not to."
The writer added: "The BBC asked me to supply a quote for the press release, which is what you’re reading now."
The upcoming series will air on BBC Two, and Charlie has now explained the current climate seemed a sensible time to bring the show back.
He added: "People would say, ‘I can’t wait to see what you say about a particular event’. So this seemed a good one to do. We’re just swapping a studio for a room in my house."
