Charli XCX says Boys video required ‘endless texting’

Charli XCX resorted to endless texting and emailing to convince her celebrity pals to appear in her ‘Boys’ video.
The 25-year-old singer-songwriter directed the sexy video, which features a host of big names, including Joe Jonas, Mark Ronson, Charlie Puth and Riz Ahmed, and she’s now revealed what it took to get them to appear on screen.
Charli – whose real name is Charlotte Aitchison – told BANG Showbiz: "I just had to really annoy them all to say yes. Not stopping texting them or emailing them saying, ‘guys you got to do this, it’s a favour come on’. And they all did and loved the idea."
Charli is currently busy working on the follow up to her 2014 release ‘Sucker’, which featured hits like ‘Boom Clap’ and ‘Break the Rules’.
But the brunette beauty still has no idea when her new record will be released.
Asked what she’s currently up to, Charli confessed: "I’m just working on my album at the moment. That’s coming next year. No idea. Could be any date."
However, Charli is confident that she’s in control of her own career and has previously insisted she won’t be dictated to by her record label.
She shared: "There’s always a time working in the music industry where someone’s going to tell you what to do. It’s the nature of the business. Someone’s always above you, trying to tell you what to do. You just have to establish that power struggle.
"I remember when I first signed to my record label when I was 16, I was like, ‘These are my bosses.’ That’s how I saw it.
"Then it only took me two months to realise that actually, I’m my own boss. Not even my own, I’m their boss. They work for me. They’re trying to sell my record."
