Catherine Tyldesley’s Coronation Street advice

Catherine Tyldesley says wannabe ‘Coronation Street’ stars need to study accents and watch plenty of theatre to make a success in the soap.
The former ‘Corrie’ actress – who played Eva Price in the ITV soap from 2011 to 2018 – says those looking to make it big on the cobbles should aim to go to drama school and work really hard.
She said: "Training [is] imperative. I’m a huge believer in drama school and reading as much as you can.
"Watch as much theatre as you can. Study accents, learn your craft."
As well as working away in her day job, the 35-year-old star also trains hard in the gym to stay in shape, but also likes to make time to "relax and play".
She said: "Eat well, sleep well, train hard, drink plenty of water, but make time to relax and play.
"I hit the gym most days to give those curves a bit of definition!
"I love my food so I think it’s all about balance. I work from the inside out – nothing is more important than a good diet."
Catherine’s 2018 highlights include her ‘Corrie’ leaving party, seeing her three-year-old son Alfie in his first school uniform, and she is planning to spend time with the youngster and her husband Tom Pitfield.
She is quoted by the Daily Star newspaper as saying: "For the rest of the year I am looking forward to spending time with my family."
Catherine quit the cobbles after playing Eva for seven years, and admitted she found it tough to shoot some of her emotionally-charged exit scenes.
She told BANG Showbiz: "It is tiring, because obviously you have to go there to make it believable, so your nervous system doesn’t necessarily understand that you’re only pretending, so it is tiring, but I think you’ve just got to look after yourself and try and laugh as much in between.
"Shayne Ward (Aidan Connor) was always good for that."
