Carol McGiffin’s sister dies of cancer

Carol McGiffin’s sister has died of cancer.
The 56-year-old presenter – who was given the all-clear from the disease less than a year ago herself – tragically lost her sibling Tracy to breast cancer last weekend after doctors found out four months ago that her illness had spread throughout her body.
Writing in her column for Best magazine, she said: "When my little sister, Tracy, was diagnosed four months ago, it didn’t seem real. I knew she was going to die, but I kind of hoped that it would be later… like, years away. Now, when I find myself saying the words, ‘My sister died last weekend,’ it still doesn’t seem real. Perhaps because it hasn’t properly sunk in yet, or that I’m just not ready to believe it."
Although she was heartbroken to lose her sister, Carol is content knowing she and Tracy had grown really close again in the months following her prognosis.
She explained: "We were always close as kids, but as we grew up things changed, and I’m really glad that in the end – those last four months – I got to spend some good, quality time with her. We had days out at the seaside, went out shopping, had lovely pub lunches. I felt like I was getting to know her all over again, because we hadn’t spent so much time together since the 80s when we lived and worked together in London. "We had some riotous times back them were really badly behaved, and got up to some terrible things. We had a lot of holidays too, to Spain and Greece. She wasn’t really a drinker, but I always got her drunk somehow."
