Camila Cabello wants to ‘explore her own artistic vision’

Camila Cabello says she left Fifth Harmony to "explore her own artistic vision".
The 19-year-old singer parted ways with her former band mates – Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui – in December in favour of pursuing a solo career, and she now says the decision to do so comes as she wanted to "follow her heart", despite saying her time in with the ‘Work From Home’ hitmakers was "amazing".
Speaking to The Sun newspaper, Camila said: "I spent five years dedicated to the group and all of us focusing on the group and it was an amazing journey.
"I’m so proud of everything that we achieved together and every moment that we had together.
"But you know, just like any artist I felt like it was time to explore my own artistic vision so I just followed my heart and here I am.
"So those are my plans, I’m just writing now and I’m so excited about just, making music and making the visuals and creating that whole world."
And Camila – who recently released her first solo single ‘Bad Things’ in collaboration with Machine Gun Kelly – says she intends to create music she’s a fan of herself, so she doesn’t have to worry about whether or not it will be a hit.
She said: "I don’t think you can ever tell if a song is going to be a hit. Maybe some people can but I can just tell when something is special to me and I like it, and then hopefully people feel the same way.
"I’m sure there are A&Rs and people who do it for a living, but for me, there’s no way to really tell. There’s no formula.
"If I love it, there’s no risk. If it doesn’t succeed then it doesn’t matter because I love it, and if it does, then, cool."
