Callum to ’cause havoc’ for Coronation Street’s David Platt

Sean Ward wants to "cause havoc" with David Platt in ‘Coronation Street’.

The soap newcomer – who plays Kylie Platt’s bad boy ex, Callum Logan – is determined to make life difficult for the character, portrayed by Jack P. Shepherd, and admits he is doing everything in his power to ruin David’s life.

The actor said: "I’m a massive thorn in David’s life and I’ll be gently tweaking it back and forth, widening the wound."

Viewers have already seen the character’s evil streak, supplying Kylie (Paula Lane) – who is now married to David – with illegal drugs, and tensions are now set to boil over in an explosive storyline after Christmas in which Callum will fight for custody of his son, Max, with Kylie.

Sean told The Sun newspaper: "I watched him growing up on my screen at home and I’ve seen him cause havoc for the people on the Street, so I’m just thinking: ‘This is for all the people you’ve done over!’ "

Talking about getting into character, the star – who joined the soap earlier this year after impressing producers in BBC One series ‘Our Girl’ – admitted he has had to start going to the gym in order to look the part.

He joked: "You can’t have a skinny bad boy. I’ve been waiting for a job to give me the kick up the bottom to get in the gym, and this is it."

However, the 27-year-old actor quipped he needs to get into shape quickly so he doesn’t get recognised in the gym without having built up some impressive muscles.

He added: "I need to get in now before I start getting recognised too much, so that when I’m pushing these really small weights, no one knows me!"
