Busted would ‘hate’ to make songs in old style now

Busted would "hate" to make songs in their old style now.
The reunited pop rock trio – Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne – are gearing up to release their first album in 13 years called ‘Night Driver’, which has a completely new sound, and they’ve admitted they would not be back together if they were to make an album like their self-titled debut and 2003’s ‘A Present for Everyone’.
Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, bassist Matt said: "I think we would all hate it. Don’t get me wrong we love the old stuff. We look back on it fondly, but that was then. That was a part in our lives when that made sense for us to do that."
Frontman Charlie, 31, added: "I think what people have to bare in mind is, if people thought we were going to come back with the same record we did 10 years ago, this would have never of happened.
"We broke up because we weren’t all on the same page musically anymore.
"It would have been strange at this stage to go, ‘You know what let’s make another record like 10 years ago.’"
And on whether they care about what their original fans think of their new sound, Charlie said he’s not going to lose sleep because they find it "hard" to get used to it.
He said: "I care about it, but I’m not going to let it worry us if people find it hard to adjust. At the end of the day we can’t really live our lives in the shadow of what people think."
Meanwhile, Matt, 33, can’t wait to share the new record with the world as he is the "happiest" he has ever been about an album.
He said: "This is the most excited and most happiest I have been creatively ever. I feel like I have something that I can’t wait for my mates to hear. I am super proud of it.
"I know exactly what it is like not to feel like that. I have felt like that previously in my life. I feel stoked about this record and I am looking forward to people hearing it.
"I am not going to talk about it, but there is an album I made in the past that I am not very happy with. But this I love everything about it."
‘Night Driver’ is released on November 25.
