Bucks Fizz set for virtual Eurovision show

The Fiz are set to perform during this year’s virtual ‘Eurovision Song Contest’.
The annual singing competition’s organisers – who had to cancel this year’s event in Rotterdam due to the coronavirus pandemic – are planning a special alternative show on May 16, and original Bucks Fizz members Jay Aston, Cheryl Baker and Mike Nolan will be part of a live show from their "living rooms".
Speaking to the Daily Mirror newspaper 58-year-old singer Jay said: "We will be doing a virtual live performance on the night from our living rooms."
The band won Eurovision in 1981 with track ‘Making Your Mind Up’, and their iconic performance saw Jay and Cheryl rip their skirts off mid-song.
Despite the pair not being in the same room at the time of their upcoming performance, Jay insisted they would keep the moment right on cue.
She added: "There is a cue in the music so we won’t get that wrong! I still have so many skirts in my wardrobe with bits of Velcro on, a virtual skirt rip is possible."
In March the European Broadcasting Union announced it had taken the "difficult decision" to cancel Eurovision 2020 because of the global pandemic.
The organisation revealed that although it had "explored many alternative options" the "health of artists, staff, fans and visitors" was the primary concern.
The statement read: "It is with deep regret that we have to announce the cancellation of the ‘Eurovision Song Contest 2020’ in Rotterdam.
"Over the past few weeks, we have explored many alternative options to allow the Eurovision Song Contest to go ahead. "However, the uncertainty created by the spread of COVID-19 throughout Europe – and the restrictions put in place by the governments of the participating broadcasters and the Dutch authorities – means the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has taken the difficult decision to not continue with the live event as planned.
"The health of artists, staff, fans and visitors, as well as the situation in the Netherlands, Europe and the world, is at the heart of this decision."
