Bryan Adams turned down an offer to become a coach on ‘The Voice’ UK.
The ‘(Everything I Do) I Do It for You’ singer finds it "cringey" to watch the show and is relieved that he snubbed a seat on the panel ahead of its UK launch two years ago because he would rather concentrate on his music career.
Bryan told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "I got asked to be a coach on ‘The Voice’ when it started but I didn’t want to do it.
"I’d rather be writing my own music than sitting on a chair, judging people."
The show, which is currently in its third series, sees will.i.am and Sir Tom Jones return as coaches alongside Kylie Minogue and Kaiser Chiefs frontman Ricky Wilson. However, Bryan admits he hasn’t enjoyed watching the show.
He explained: "I watched it the other day. I saw Tom Jones hesitating all the time and I thought, ‘That would have been me’, and I would be doing that the whole time. It would be really cringey."
Meanwhile, ‘The Voice’ UK has seen a boost in ratings this year since Kylie’s debut on the talent show.
In the US, the show is in its sixth season, with Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Usher and Shakira returning as coaches.
