Bruce Forsyth has "had enough" of reality TV.
The former ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ presenter has revealed he is sick of real-life shows dominating channels and would like to see more programmes featuring performers and artists "having fun".
He said: "I have had enough of it. I don’t know how long it’s been going on but it’s probably well over 10 years.
"I’d like to see performers playing together; having fun together; instead of this thing that we’re caught up in."
The 87-year-old TV legend – who found fame hosting variety show ‘Sunday Night at the Palladium’ in 1958 – is also bored of ‘Strictly…’ rival ‘The X Factor’ and insists the constant stream of singers appearing on the show is tedious.
He said: "I don’t watch it because they have singer after singer after singer after singer… and then, after that, they have another singer. That to me isn’t entertainment."
However, the star is pleased the show can provide a platform for young singers who are trying to make a name for themselves in the music industry.
He told Radio Times magazine: "It’s a very good show, it’s produced very, very well and I’m all for giving young people a chance to become big names, but I want more than two hours of entertainment than only singing."
Bruce – who left his post on ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ in 2013 after fronting the show for a decade – admits hosting the BBC One series was starting to "feel a bit stale" but he isn’t ready to retire just yet.
He explained: "It was starting to feel a bit stale. It’s an awful thing to feel as a performer, that you’re not enjoying it as much as you should do and you’re not giving as much as you could.
"At the moment I’m feeling fine. I take every day as it comes. I’m living on borrowed time. I’ve been given this extra little bit in the twilight of my career, so enjoy it and keep doing what you do."
